“Something amazing happens when we surrender and just love. We melt into another world, a realm of power already within us. The world changes when we change. The world softens when we soften. The world loves us when we choose to love the world.” ~ Marianne Williamson

Pamela Tinkham, LCSW, C-IAYT, SEP, is an Adjunct Professor at Fordham University, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, a Yoga-Psychotherapist, and an Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Informed Practice. She holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from Fordham University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance from Butler University. She also holds national certifications from The Yoga Alliance, the American College of Sports Medicine, and the American Council on Exercise. Pamela has been working with clients on their health goals since 1992 and added the clinical therapy piece to her practice in 2004. She is licensed in New York, Connecticut, and Florida. Her clinical license and years of experience enable her to educate and supervise students and entry level therapists as well.

Pamela has always offered a holistic approach to healing. With traditional therapy she found that people were in a continuous repetitious cycle. With Somatic Therapy, she discovered that clients were able to go deeper into the body and psyche and discover the stumbling blocks to their progress in a relatively short amount of time. Pamela continues to track progress in order to learn from and maintain a successful practice.

In 2007, Pamela created Mind Body Fitness, LLC; the combination of fitness and mental health, after working as the Director of Behavioral Health at a medical practice in Westchester, NY. Pamela exited the fitness world in 2012 to solely focus on Yoga-Psychotherapy. She amended her LLC to Pamela Tinkham, LLC and continues to treat children, adolescents, adults, and couples with various mental health issues including trauma.

"I work with each client holistically where we turn inward towards our emotions instead of burying or blocking them. This is done in a safe space which allows for physical, mental, and emotional healing.”

Psychotherapy with Pamela Tinkham:

"I am watching 'Heal' on Netflix and I cant stop thinking this whole time about how seeing you was a turning point in my life. I came to you very broken emotionally and you helped me shift that thinking and it has had such a ripple effect throughout my life. You made me ready to meet my husband when he came along and now I have a son and am truly thriving in a way I never imagined for myself. Saying thank you seems too thin and surface level. But I just want you to know that you changed my life... and thank you."

"I spent the last 15 years in and out of therapy, mostly CBT. And while that work enabled me to function with my anxiety disorder, I didn't realize until I started working with Pamela that I had only scraped the surface. Instead of pushing aside the negative thinking, she taught me to turn towards it, bringing me to a level of consciousness I had never achieved. As opposed to other forms of therapy that are solely mental, YogaPsych teaches the mind-body connection which has guided me to get in touch on level I never thought possible."
